BEHIND THE WHEEL OF MG'S FASTEST CAR YET
BW Businessworld
|August 23, 2025
It's fast, it's electric, and it wears the MG badge with a swagger. MG Cyberster is India's first electric roadster inspired by MG's iconic MGB. With 510 PS and a 3.2-second 0-100 sprint, it blends heritage with high-voltage performance
THE CYBERSTER is MG's modern tribute to the iconic MGB Roadster, one of the most loved British sports cars back in the 1960s and 1970s. The twoseater sports car wasn't just popular but it was a symbol of freedom, flair and pure driving fun. Celebrities drove it. Racers admired it. And now, MG has brought that same spirit back but with a bold new twist. This time, it's electric and more dramatic than ever.
I recently got the chance to experience it first-hand at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The weather was far from ideal, it was drizzling and the track was wet but that only made things more exciting. I slipped into the driver's seat of the Cyberster, an all-electric convertible that MG claims is not just the fastest MG ever made, but also Asia's fastest sports car.
What followed was equal parts adrenaline and thrill from the very first lap. And after a few laps around the track, I can tell you this: it lives up to the hype.
Design Visually, the MG Cyberster is a showstopper. With its long sweeping bonnet, active aero elements, storm-eye headlamps, arrow-shaped tail lamps, and F1-style fog lights, it looks like it has leapt straight out of a concept sketch.
The standout design element has to be the pair of electrically operated scissor doors that rise dramatically. Drop the powered soft-top roof, which opens in around 10 seconds even at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and you've got one of the most eye-catching silhouettes on Indian roads.
