Richard Hall organises an owners' trip to the Marex factory in Lithuania
THE MAREX FACTOR

When I bought my Marex 310 in 2017, I asked Wessex Marine if they would arrange a visit to the factory in Lithuania. To my delight, they agreed and I was able to catch my boat in the final stages of the build. And let me tell you, when you’re standing in a shed in the middle of Lithuania and a boat builder points and says, “That’s your boat,” there is no better feeling!

BOAT SHOW TESTIMONY

The following year, I again visited the Marex stand at the Southampton Boat Show and talked to people who were looking around the 310. I even suggested to Guy at Wessex Marine that it would be good for visitors to have an owner to talk to at the boat show. I’m sure we have a different perspective from the marine industry’s professionals and again, they agreed. I’ve now attended three boat shows with Wessex Marine and I’m looking forward to the next one in September 2023.

HOW TO MARK YOUR ANCHOR

Anchoring in a pretty bay is one of boating’s greatest joys but it can also be a cause of considerable angst: How much chain should I put out? What’s the seabed like? Will I get stuck? What if I drag? Many of these concerns can be solved by laying the correct amount of cable (called scope) for the depth and conditions.
