MotoGP returned to action at Silverstone after the summer break. Taking his first-ever premier class win in the Sprint race was the younger of Marquez brothers, Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati), while the main race saw Aprilia claim their first victory of the season with Aleix Espargaro as he beat the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia in a last lap thriller.
