Campaigners say over-70s should have regular checks
-
DRIVERS OVER 70 years old should have their eyesight tested if they want to keep driving, and they should face mandatory retests every three years thereafter.
That’s according to the Older Drivers Forum, a road safety organisation backed by the police. The group’s founder, former traffic officer Rob Heard, says the current testing requirements for older drivers are inadequate.
Speaking to What Car?, Heard said the current UK rules are out of date” compared with many other countries, which have regular eye assessments in place for elderly drivers.
