THE KRAZY PSYCHO TRIFECTA
Hot Rod
|Fall 2025
WHEN JUST ONE CRAZY CUSTOM-PAINTED PRO STOCKER BARRACUDA ISN'T ENOUGH.
On the nearly half century since the rise of the Pro Street movement, the genre has produced perhaps the most eclectic mixture of vehicles in all of hot rodding, spanning makes and models from every era, over-the-top engine combinations, and flashy paint schemes and themes. It could be argued, then, that we'd seen it all. Yet a onetime blue-collar mechanic from Texas with empty pockets but loaded with mechanical ability and big dreams who looked on with envy during Pro Street's heyday has successfully carved out a niche of his own in the modern-day Pro Street scene, and he's done so by drawing influence from Super Stock drag racing's all-time giant.
Bill Hugill owns three 1968 Plymouth Barracudas, each one built with a similar yet distinct personality and each executed with the kind of detail and vision that makes them stand out in a scene full of loud builds and louder paint. All three are Pro Street-style builds, all sport Hemi power, and all three have been transformed under the hands of renowned artist and drag racer Travis “Tuki” Hess of Kolor by Tuki at Bucky's Ltd. Auto Body in West Virginia. Together, these cars form a personal trilogy rooted in Hugill's lifelong appreciation for Mopars and a second chance at the movement he missed the first time around.
Hugill is a retired automotive mechanic who kept his hands greasy throughout his career, always "barely making it because of my addiction to toys," he says. That addiction began with a primered, 340-powered, four-speed 1972 Barracuda in high school. Some 200 cars have followed in his collection, and until recently, "cheap" was the common theme among them all.Diese Geschichte stammt aus der Fall 2025-Ausgabe von Hot Rod.
