I've had a good run of late, and the string of fourth places has continued.

I've had that many (I think I'm up to seven now) that while debriefing following yet another podium missed, another team owner with whom I'd been in negotiations with before signing for AJN Kawasaki sent me a cheeky little message telling me that under his bonus scheme (that went beyond podium places), I would now be well over £30k better off. I duly responded with a laughing emoji... even though I was crying a little on the inside.

Okay, so maybe I got the bonus structure negotiations wrong, but I feel so happy in the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki team that I know it was definitely the correct choice for this season. The results we are getting have been well-received by the BSB paddock as both myself and Max have been sticking the ZX10-RR right up at the sharp end of the field, and I firmly believe that is largely down to the team dynamic we have.

Of course, we have a great bike, great technical staff, and at least one incredible rider (you can choose who that is), but I honestly believe that the extra ingredient into the equation is how cohesive the whole team is and how much of a family atmosphere there is. I'm genuinely having one of the most enjoyable seasons of my career, and that applies on both the better AND worse weekends we've had.
