The new model is based on the Renault Group's modular platform that was first seen on the Kardian. The new modular platform is ultra-flexible and able to accommodate a wide range of body styles. This architecture delivers significant savings in development time while boosting competitive edge.

Coming to the exterior design, the Boreal's style reflects a clear vision of a "family-friendly prestige vehicle with instantly recognisable modern, sculptural lines". It combines elegant styling with high-tech features, all the while adopting the cues of Renault's new design identity. The styling language is based on flowing bodywork, with generous curves and tension lines, balanced by more structured technical features.
