Mahindra has teased a bold new future with its all-new NU_IQ platform and four concepts unveiled at the Freedom_NU event held on the recent Independence Day

MAHINDRA HAS BEEN KNOWN IN recent years to reveal something big on Independence Day. Some days, it is unique concepts like the Born Electric range, which has spawned the BE 6 and XEV ge electric SUVs, and some others, the launch of important models like the Mahindra Thar Roxx. On the country's 79th Independence Day on 15 August this year, the company didn't disappoint either. It marked the day by outlining its long-term Global Vision 2027 roadmap with the unveiling of the all-new NU_IQ platform. It previews a bold and adaptable future with four striking sport utility vehicle (SUV) concepts.

Before we get to the concepts at hand, let's first explain what the NU_IQ platform is all about. For starters, it's a monocoque architecture that prides itself on flexibility. By that, we mean it can accommodate a variety of body styles as well as powertrains. The SUVs based on this platform will be ready for anything: electric, internal combustion engine (ICE) or hybrid propulsion, left- or right-hand drive, as well as front-wheel or all-wheel drive. As for sizes, this platform can encompass from sub-four-metres to up to 4.5 metres, with the wheelbase stretching to 2.6 metres.
