The Volkswagen Virtus' outstanding performance as a premium sedan proves that sedans do still hold a special appeal for many Indians, especially the enthusiasts
OVER THE PAST FEW years, the Indian automotive space has seen sport utility vehicles (SUV) rise in popularity to the point that not only do they dominate the proceedings, but have become a must-have offering for any manufacturer in India. This, on top of the evolving customer demands, meant that sedans began losing their ground and questions were being raised as to whether they would survive or disappear like the Dodo bird. Well, in came the Volkswagen Virtus in June 2022 and since then it has not only cemented its place among a large variety of SUVs, but also managed to buck the trend of declining sedan sales to become the bestselling premium sedan in the country in 2024.
It is no mean feat that this sedan crossed the 50,000 sales mark in just 28 months. How has the Volkswagen Virtus managed to achieve this? Well, there's no magic involved here but a number of crucial factors that contributed to it and rightly so.
For starters, the Virtus stands out with a simple yet sporty European exterior that consistently manages to turn heads.
That European experience continues inside with a sensible and clean cabin layout that has a certain tactile feel to it with all the controls in the right places, truly exuding that premium ambience.Diese Geschichte stammt aus der February 2025-Ausgabe von Car India.
