REIGNING FOUR-TIME WORLD CHAMPION, Max Verstappen (Oracle Red Bull Racing), has been on a roll since the summer break, taking three wins and two second-place finishes, to thrust himself into the title fight.

McLaren needed a counterattack to this momentum, and the 2025 Formula One Mexico City Grand Prix weekend was where it transpired. A qualifying session that went down to the wire, meant it was Lando Norris (McLaren) who stepped up to the plate, taking pole position with the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton second and third. Crucially for him, his title rivals were on the backfoot with Verstappen down in fifth position and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) continuing his struggles, lining up ninth on the grid.
