Destined for Greatness?

The Hero Destini 125 sits above the premium line of scooters offered by Hero. First launched in 2018, then discontinued in 2023, it is now back with a bang. We got to test this scooter over varying terrain and here is how the experience was

THE HERO DESTINI 125 comes in three variants: VX, ZX, and ZX+. The starting price is Rs 80,450 for the VX variant and Rs 89,300 and Rs 90,300 for the subsequent two variants respectively (all prices ex-showroom). The feature that stands out to me the most visually are the chrome accents. The ZX+ variant has some really nice looking copper-chrome accents that highlight the "premium feel". The H-shaped daytime running lights (DRL) surrounding the LED projector headlight and H-shaped. LED tail-light are subtle indicators of the manufacturer's mark. The copperchrome accents sit above the tail-light as well and that accentuates the premium finish.

The updated display and the super long seat come next. The 2023 model did have some issues with the fit-and-finish of the switches and toggles situated around the then digital-analogue display, but Hero listened and definitely made the upgrades. The switches and toggles now feel tactile and they have even added a dedicated light for the powerstart button.

The top spec of this scooter gets an LCD negative display. The screen has a variety of features that you would expect in a premium scooter, such as Bluetooth connectivity paired with turn-by-turn navigation and short messaging service (SMS) alerts. One that attracted our attention is the "side-stand engaged" light and side-stand engine cut-off. That's a great safety feature not often seen in scooters.
