New electric equivalent of Bayon is twinned with forthcoming Kia EV2

Hyundai will reveal a new compact SUV, an electric alternative to the Bayon, in "the next few months" as it continues to expand its EV lineup.

Understood by Autocar to be twinned with sibling brand Kia's incoming EV2, the crossover will plug the gap between the Inster and Kona Electric. This size, similar to that of the ICE-powered Bayon, will position it as a rival to the likes of the Volvo EX30 and Renault 4.

It will be revealed "in the next few months", said new Hyundai Motor Europe CEO Xavier Martinet, which suggests an unveiling at the Munich motor show in September is likely.
