The latest in the Volkswagen family of electric vehicles is a sedan based on the Vizzion concept and gets the 7 nomenclature. We got to drive it at the World Car Awards LA Test Drives late last year

The ID family of electric vehicles from Volkswagen got its sixth member last year with the launch of nearly one car a year starting with the ID.3, a large hatch by Indian standards, way back in 2019. In 2020 it was the turn of the mid-sized SUV, the ID.4 that has also spawned an SUV-coupe body style, the ID.5 that was launched in the second half of 2021, after the launch of the large three-row SUV, the ID.6 for the Chinese market. The next year it was the turn of the ID.Buzz the minivan and that has been followed by the launch of the electric sedan, ID.7 last year.

Based on VW’s modular architecture for electric vehicles, MEB, the ID.7 features the APP550 drivetrain that has a new three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor at its heart. This is the most powerful and torquey motor used on an ID model thus far.
