Lambo shifts to PHEVs as EVs deemed "wrong offer"

LAMBORGHINI has officially put the brakes on the launch of its first all-electric car, all but confirming the radical Lanzador 2+2 concept (above) will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Speaking to Auto Express, CEO Stephan Winkelmann cited slowing EV demand and brand perception for the U-turn. "When it comes to our type of cars, our customers don't see EV as an alternative," he said. "We could do an EV, but I think it's the wrong offer for the next years." A final decision on the Lanzador's powertrain is expected soon
