The company has introduced the High Density Reluctance Motor (HDRM) developed by Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) as a solution designed to address many of the limitations found in earlier reluctance-based motor designs. Originating from research at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, the HDRM is distinct from both Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) and Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRMs). Instead, it integrates key features of both technologies to deliver a compact, efficient, quiet, and rare-earth-free motor suitable for modern automotive applications.
