Evolving Indian Rubber Industry

|October 2025
Apcotex Industries has accelerated the transition to advanced synthetic rubber production. It is expanding capacity and developing new NBR and HSR grades for automotive and tyre applications
By integrating renewable energy and aligning with global standards, Apcotex Industries has positioned itself to align with the rapidly evolving materials supply chain, driven by sustainability.
Apcotex Industries has implemented a series of targeted initiatives that indicate a significant shift in India’s synthetic rubber industry. While the global rubber market has been largely influenced by fluctuating automotive demand and raw material volatility, the company has stayed focused on product diversification, capacity expansion, regulatory compliance, and integrating sustainability throughout the year. Collectively, these actions demonstrate how upstream suppliers are adapting to new demands in the automotive and tyre industries, both in India and internationally.
Expanding Rubber Portfolio
One of the most significant developments during the year is the expansion of Apcotex’s synthetic rubber portfolio for automotive applications. The company introduced improved grades of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) and High Styrene Rubber (HSR), two materials critical for manufacturing moulded components such as hoses, seals, gaskets, vibration-damping elements, and brake pads. These segments represent essential components in vehicle assemblies, where performance depends on oil resistance, heat tolerance, and wear durability. The introduction of new NBR poly blends and NBR powder variants further extended the company’s footprint in automotive and industrial supply chains. These materials are widely used in jointing sheets, adhesives, and friction products. Their development reflects a broader trend in the automotive sector, where components are being engineered to deliver greater mechanical strength while remaining cost-efficient, a requirement shaped by growing pressure on OEMs and tier-1 suppliers to optimise both performance and cost.
