In the US, beadlock wheels solve the problem by clamping the tyre bead to the rim - simple, but not legal on Australian roads. Until now, Aussie 4x4 owners have had to choose between off-road performance and on-road legality. ICON Alloys is changing that. A NEW KIND OF BEAD RETENTION

Traditional beadlocks use an external ring to clamp the outer bead of the tyre. They work brilliantly off-road, but they're heavy, require regular maintenance, and aren't legal for road use in Australia.

ICON's Innerlock system takes a different approach. Instead of clamping the outer bead with an external ring, it uses a series of hardened alloy pins inside the wheel barrel to press against the inner bead. The pins are removable, reusable, and sealed behind O-rings to maintain airtight integrity. The result is a wheel that prevents de-beading at low pressures - just like a beadlock - but remains fully road legal.

In practical terms, it means you can air down for better traction and ride comfort off-road - then drive home legally, without swapping wheels or risking a fine.
