Hans J Wegner designed around 500 chairs in his lifetime. While several of them are known as innovative masterpieces, one of his most iconic creations remains the CH24 Wishbone Chair designed in 1949.

Inspired by chairs from China's Ming dynasty, Wegner made its back and armrests out of a single piece of wood. He developed its characteristic wishbone-shaped back to maximize comfort and used paper cord, readily available in the post-war era, for the seat. Since 1950, Carl Hansen & Son, a family owned Danish furniture manufacturer, has been producing it after joining forces with Wegner for its mass production.
