It’s spring in Delhi, and the lush gardens of this home on Green Avenue are damp and dewy. The smell of freshly watered down grass fills my lungs as we drive through the porch towards the main bungalow. Standing amid the expansive lawns in a bright lapis-blue dress, one of her own, is designer Ruchika Sachdeva. The order of the day? Sunday breakfast chez Bodice.

As we crunch through our sourdough toast and slightly runny eggs, a peacock leaves its perch from a mango tree, while a koel coos a melody. Breakfast and a show, I think to myself. The contents of the morning I’ve witnessed make up nearly each day in the designer’s life. The two-kilometer radius of her South Delhi residence is an oasis in the heart of the city where she chooses to live, work, and entertain.
