IT might not have been quite the winning comeback the crowd hoped for, but Ben Maher and Explosion W’s 0.4sec defeat by Swiss rider Martin Fuchs riding the spectacular Conner Jei in the Rolex grand prix showed they were back to their best.
An electrifying jump-off for this €125,000 (£110,000) first prize was guaranteed when a surprising nine riders delivered clears round Bernardo Costa Cabral’s track.
Ireland’s Bertram Allen and Pacino Amiro opened the jump-off, leaving just the smallest of cracks open.
