MAX COMLEY secured his first treble as a trainer, with all three coming under rides from former point-to-point champion jockey James King.
The 25-year-old, who is based in the Cotswolds, described it as “a big day”.
“I’d never trained a double before, let alone a treble, so it was great for everyone involved,” said the young trainer.
Max and James’s first winner of the day came when Wagner took the men’s open for owner Charlie Noell.
“I hold him in high regard,” stated Max of the eight-year-old gelding by Mahler. “He had a good summer holiday and we came here today knowing we already had a run under our belt in testing conditions at the Portman meeting [where he finished second], which stood us in good stead.
