Do you find yourself not knowing what is actually healthy anymore? With social media ‘advice’ and conflicting information from friends and family, it can be hard to know what you should be putting into your body and what is just another diet fad. But with our shopping guide and expert advice, you can do your groceries knowing you are making choices based on facts. So not only will your weekly shop be less stressful, you’ll look and feel healthier too!

Must I give up carbs?

I love bread and pasta and I’d really miss them but I seem to be in the minority having a sandwich for lunch. Should they go? Despite what the growing army of wellness bloggers and lifestyle gurus would have us believe, carbs are not bad for us. But in the UK we tend to eat highly refined and processed carbs, which have been stripped of their nutrients and fibre and are full of fat, salt and/or sugar. Experts agree that carbs are an important part of a healthy, balanced diet, so don’t cut them out – opt for low-GI, fibre-rich carbs, like wholemeal bread, beans and pulses, and wholegrain cereals.
