In Wednesday’s episode of Shortland Street, some of the soap’s stars get the RuPaul’s Drag Race treatment when they put on a gender-bending fundraiser for Ferndale’s local LGBTQ+ centre.

Shorty stalwart Michael Galvin took over three hours in the makeup chair to change from Dr Chris Warner into drag queen Dr Crystal Love, but the actor insists, “I actually enjoyed it, mainly because the drag artists were such good company and it was fascinating to watch them work their magic as I was transformed beyond recognition.”
