With each passing year, the beauty industry brings with it new and interesting trends. Whether it’s the arrival of new brands in India, a new skin care routine or path-breaking innovations, this space is always buzzing with fresh things to look forward to. So what’s coming next and what do you need to watch out for? Take a look with us and know what’s in store for 2019.

CONSCIOUS BEAUTY

Come 2019, ‘conscious beauty’ is going to be about more than just natural ingredients and no animal testing. Seeing the rise in pollution levels and the adverse impact of beauty practices and products on the environment, an increasing number of brands are becoming more aware about what’s going into their products and how they’re made. There is a conscious effort to reduce the use of plastic in packaging; brands such as Omorfee are coming up with innovative ways like bamboo packaging for their products. In fact, internationally, bath and wellness brand Lush is pioneering a movement of ‘naked’ packaging where their products such as shampoos are also sold in solid form, with no packaging whatsoever. Even salons are participating in this conscious beauty movement, by doing their own small bit like cutting down water usage in their backwashes by nearly 60%.
