Skin pores are those annoying little openings on your face, especially around the cheeks and nose, which resemble orange peels…but are not half as refreshing or pleasant. No amount of make-up can hide these nasty skin pores. In fact, badly done make-up can only make it worse. Know more about their causes, remedies, etc.

DIGGING DEEPER

For every hair on our body, there is a corresponding skin pore. Quite a realisation, isn’t it! While we can’t see all of them, a few are quite visible. Dr. H. K. Kar, Head of Department—Dermatology, Paras Hospitals—Gurgaon, elaborates, “Pores are the small openings in the skin where oil and sweat reach the surface from different glands. Oil pores allow the oil generated by the sebaceous glands to reach the surface and lubricate the skin. The skin’s natural oil, called sebum, helps in keeping the skin supple, moisturised, and healthy. They also help in getting the sweat out on the skin.”
