Having known that I have been comparatively less merrier than I should have, after being in a sober relationship of more than half a decade; my college mate Aman’s one skeptical question has jammed my mind for over a week now. “Amayra, are you genuinely happy in your relationship or has it just become too comfortable for you guys to be able to phase it out?” I hung the call in an unambiguous apprehension, as nettled array of thoughts lodged my mind. I was combating a constant battle to be able to find an answer and figure things out. It had been a week Aman didn’t call after that abrupt termination, maybe because he knew how baffled I have been all this while, ever since my mom asked me whether I’m sure to settle with the man I have been dating ever since I was in tenth grade. One afternoon, on a day off from work, I was sitting on the couch settled in my balcony, randomly gazing at the plants I had gardened and as I got up to water them, my phone rang. It was Aman, my eyes beamed in happiness and cheeks went cheerful from sullen. I answered the call in utter excitement, “Thank God you called, I’m so sorry for acting like an ass, I thought you’d be really mad at me for behaving that way. I missed you!” “Stop it you fool, I wanted to give you enough time to think about what I asked you, because it’s high time you sort things out for your own good. And, am I even your best friend if I don’t amass you while you’re scattered?” He questioned in appraisal. “It would be a shame if I don’t say I adore you, and you are my perfect rescue from confrontation,” I answered in a smirking tone.
