Apple kicked off its annual World Wide Developers Conference on June 13 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, and with it came some serious announcements for its operating systems – mac OS, tv OS and watch OS all enjoyed upgrades, but it was iOS which remained the star of the show.

The tenth iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system comes packed with serious improvements to its core apps – Messages, News, Music and Photos all got a facelift – and Apple handed third party developers more control over its core apps. Now, apps can be integrated with Siri, Messages, Phone, Maps and even more. We’ve rounded up ten of the biggest changes coming with iOS 10.

SWIFT PLAYGROUNDS

One of the most exciting announcements at WWDC 2016 was Swift Playgrounds, a new app for iPad which offers kids the tools they need to learn to code. Based on real code, kids can solve puzzles, meet characters and control them with a single tap, learning the Swift programming language used by Apple and App Store developers every day.

The new app will include various courses, such as Mimic Me and Drawing Sounds, all based off of Apple’s already strong coding and development infrastructure, while an “App Development with Swift” feature will give users tools to build their own app for iOS, Mac or TV easily and effectively. With QuickType for code, a brand new shortcut bar which intelligently displays coding commands, you can program an entire app in lighting speed.
