“Technology is reshaping Medical Skills Learning & Assessment processes”

Technology solutions can enhance medical learning and training to a great extent.

In medical education, advances like simulations, virtual patients, and e-learning have evolved as pedagogical strategies to facilitate an active, learner centred teaching approach.

As an exam conducting body National Board of Examinations (NBE) in Medical Sciences has been using technology extensively to conduct training and examinations effectively throughout the country. Being an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the prime mandate of NBE is to conduct entrance examinations (NEET-PG, NEET-SS), and licensing exams (FMGE), conduct and supervise postgraduate and postdoctoral training, exit examinations in all the NBE accredited Hospitals, Institutes, and Medical Colleges.

“Quality, fairness, and objectivity remains the prime focus of the organization- the reason that the government of India has entrusted very very high stakes examinations to our body. We have been able to use the expertise of our technology partners to keep the level of reliability and objectivity of the exam at the highest level,” said Dr Pawanindra Lal, Executive Director & CEO, National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, while he was speaking on the topic, ‘How tech can improve medical skills & education’ in the PCQuest HealthTech Forum.
