Spurs v Leicester

As part of an occasional feature, Andy Greeves takes at a look at former Spurs players who made just a single competitive appearance for us. Today, he explores the career of defender Jamie Clapham, who made his Spurs cameo as a substitute in a Premier League match against Coventry City in May 1997.

JAMIE CLAPHAM

DOB: 07.12.1975

POSITION: DEFENDER

Born in Lincoln on 7 December, 1975, defender James ‘Jamie’ Richard Clapham joined us as a trainee in July 1992 and put pen to paper on a professional contract with us two years later.

A regular at youth and reserve level during his six-year career with us, Clapham featured in all four matches of our UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign during the summer of 1995. Our squad for the Group B games (not considered as first-team matches) against Lucerne, Rudar Velenje, Osters IF and Cologne contained a mixture of youth and reserve players while senior pros such as Mark Newson of Barnet, Northampton Town’s Ian Sampson, St Mirren’s David Byrne and Charlton Athletic’s Alan Pardew all joined on loan to represent us in the competition.
