Warner Happy To Be In Ranks Until Smith Calls Time On The Captaincy

STAND-IN Australia captain David Warner has played down talk of him taking over the limited overs captaincy from Steve Smith after Australia beat New Zealand in the Tri-Nations final in Auckland .
Australia’s win on the Duckworth-Lewis method ensured they made it five wins out of five over the Black Caps and England with Warner as skipper. But the Aussie opener admitted there was no decision to be made on his part until Steve Smith set a switch in motion.
“At the end of the day, it’s up to Steve,” Warner said, having scored 25.
“If he thinks his workloads are too high and he doesn’t feel like he can do that, I’m sure he’ll put his hand up and step aside.”
Smith captained Australia to Ashes success this winter before leading the team to defeat in the ODIs and subsequently declared that he would be taking time away from the T20s in order to rest up ahead of touring South Africa next month.
