A magazine feature for the Warren County High School’s Platinum Ice Dance Team has been long overdue. Taylor Whitehead, has been the band director of the school, located in Warrenton, North Carolina, for twenty years. As the band has always had an auxiliary dance line for the past 11 years, the group has evolved into a crowd favorite at games, parades and various events where they perform.

The dancers (pictured left to right) Nubia Lockett, Brittany Calixte, Sonaya Goode, Ashley Ammons, Kayla Henry, Brianna Brooks & Cori Battle have formed a sisterhood that is the core of their success. In addition to their dedication to the team and its goals, these ladies each are preparing for strong leadership careers. A junior, Nubia has her sights set on attending the University of Maryland towards a career in criminal justice. She hopes to work with the FBI or the Secret Service. Brittany is a senior preparing to enter Winston Salem State University with a major towards becoming a physical therapist. Sonaya, the freshman of the group, has her sights set on attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her goal is to become an obstetrician. Ashley has plans to enlist in the US Army and train towards becoming a traveling nurse. Kayla is a senior with her eyes set on attending Spelman College to major in biology. Her goal is to become a neo-natal pediatrician. Brianna, the captain of the team, is looking forward to attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with plans on becoming a pharmacologist. Cori, also a senior, has plans to attend North Carolina A&T University with a major towards becoming a mental health therapist.
