Are These Twins The Future Of The Ryder Cup?
Golf Asia
|March 2023
Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard have been making headlines on the DP World Tour. Now they want to do it on the biggest stage in golf
-

Thomas Bjorn has been Denmark’s best-known golfer for years. But that could be about to change thanks to twins Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard, who have been tipped as the future of European golf and the next brothers to play in the Ryder Cup together.
The pair have come a long way since sharing a small bag with three clubs in it when they were four; they only received their own set of clubs when they were eight.
Three years since turning pro, they’ve already registered five DP World Tour wins between them, creating history last year as the first brothers to celebrate back-to-back DP World Tour victories; Nicolai won the Italian Open at this year’s Ryder Cup course, a week after Rasmus had captured the European Masters.
Rasmus also became the third-youngest winner in DP World Tour history, at 18 years and 271 days, with a play-off triumph at the Mauritius Open on just his fifth start.
Their success also extends to team competitions after they led Denmark to victory in the 2018 World Amateur Team Championship. Now the brothers are hoping to go one better by making an even bigger statement in Rome this year…
Were you both destined to become tour pros?
RASMUS: I wouldn’t say destined. We always wanted to be professional golfers, but we weren’t sure just how good we were. It’s easy for people from the outside to maybe see the talent both myself and Nicolai had but, for me, you just focus on getting better day by day.
