The ODIs in 2020 kicked off with Ireland taking on West Indies in a three-match series while India hosted the Aussies at home. England and South Africa shared the three-match series 1-1 in South Africa before India were blanked 3-0 in New Zealand. There were two more whitewashes as Sri Lanka blanked the Windies 3-0 while the Proteas got the better of the Aussies by the same margin.

The Chappell-Hadlee Trophy was expected to be a close encounter but had to be cancelled after the Aussies won the first game as COVID-19 starting taking its toll on cricket. After the sport resumed, it was all about Australia’s dominance. They got the better of England 2-1 away from home and hammered India by the same margin at home. Aussie captain Aaron Finch will open the innings and lead the side as well. He played 13 ODIs and was the leading run-scorer in 2020 with 673 runs, averaging 56.08 with two hundreds and five fifties. His highest score of 114 came against India in the first ODI at Sydney in November. A prolific year for the Australian skipper.
