Quintana Shows Class As He Rides Into Vuelta Lead

Colombian overtakes Roglič on GC but expects to relinquish red jersey after time trial

Colombian climber Nairo Quintana showed glimpses of his former Grand Tourwinning self last week as he rode into the Vuelta a España’s red jersey on the day before the race’s first rest day.
Quintana had been on the attack with eventual stage winner Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) on stage 10’s trek through the high mountains and torrential rain when he was distanced but he still put enough time into second-placed Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) to claim the race lead by six seconds.
