India's Middle Managers are Reaching Their Breaking Point

INDIAN CORPORATE LIFE leans heavily on its middle managers. Yet these managers are stretched thin, under-supported, and quietly becoming the weakest link in organisational performance. Over the years, we have met many who form the emotional core of their companies: steady, composed, and deeply committed. But beneath that outward capability lies a harder truth: the Indian middle manager has become an overdrawn talent bank, with constant withdrawals and few deposits. What was once a hopeful step on the leadership ladder has, for many, turned into a zone of persistent exhaustion. Expectations keep rising while support rarely follows. Middle managers are asked to be coaches, therapists, culture carriers, crisis managers, policy enforcers and project jugglers – all at once. They must offer empathy downwards and optimism upwards while simultaneously handling attrition, ambiguity, and relentless quarterly targets. What used to be a role of supervision has become the pressure chamber of corporate life.

Why Humans Continue to Cross Borders

MIGRATION IS not an accident in the human story. It is the story itself. From the first footsteps that wandered out of Africa many millennia ago to caravans that crossed deserts to ships that carried spices and songs across the oceans, movement has always shaped civilisation.
