The masses have always awaited the launch of the Kingfisher Calendar every year with bated breath. And each year, the calendar has managed to meet those expectations with new faces, new themes and new locales. In a talk with Atul Kasbekar, the man behind the head-turning images of the Kingfisher Calendar for the last 19 years, we tried to dig our way to the core and find the story behind the calendar shoots. Excerpts:
What is the theme for the calendar for the year 2021?
We are a location-driven Calendar which takes inspiration from the beautiful & exotic locations we shoot at and 2021’s edition is no exception.
Can you tell us what the experience of creating the Kingfisher calendar is like? Why did you choose Kerala this year?
We shot in India many years ago but at that time we could not get around shooting in Kerala. We shot in Andaman, Rajasthan, Ladhak & Goa for a special edition. Kerala has always had a special place in my heart, I have visited the beautiful city many times for a holiday and have truly enjoyed myself. However, this is the first time we have shot here professionally and it has been a delightful experience.
