Nikon Z7 ii

In October 2020, Nikon announced the launch of the Nikon Z7 ii as a continuation to its imaging line-up legacy. Priced at ₹ 2.5 Lacs (body only), the Z7 ii effectively goes against the popular offerings like the Canon EOS R5 and the Sony A7R IV. It is considerably cheaper as compared to both these cameras and with the reduction in the price point, certain things are amiss in the Z7ii.

Look, Body and Feel

In terms of look, body and feel there aren’t any significant differences between the Z7 and the Z7ii. As the Z7 was great in terms of handling, the Z7ii follows in the same footsteps too. It has a great grip, well-placed button layout and also great options to customize your functions.

Coming to the things that are amiss in the Z7ii, the first is the EVF and the second is the refresh rate. Unfortunately, like the Z6ii, this camera also hasn’t seen an upgrade when it comes to its EVF. It still features the same 3.69M dots EVF which considering the segment, isn’t ideal. The other cameras in this segment go well beyond this resolution and give a refresh rate of 120 hz whereas the Z7ii is stuck at a refresh rate of 60 hz.

Thoughts

Similar to Z6ii, the Z7ii features Dual Card slots and Dual Processors. This is a welcome change since it will make a big difference when it comes to shooting images or videos, especially considering that the Z7ii has much bigger file size with its 46-megapixel sensor. The Z7ii features a CF-Express or XQD card slot and a standard SD card slot.
