|March 2022
There’s no better time than Holi to capture some vibrant images of the celebrations. We’ll learn how to make the most out of your Holi photos by using your smartphone. Thankfully, smartphone photography has advanced significantly in recent years, and it is now much better. The sheer number of cameras at the back has increased dramatically, with triple or four cameras becoming standard. The iPhone 11 Pro has three cameras, the Galaxy S20+ has four, and even mid-range cheaper phones like the Realme 5 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme 6 Pro have four cameras on the back. We’ve compiled a list of Holi photography tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your photos.
Compose the Action
Holi is an excellent opportunity to photograph action, especially when people are smearing colour on one other’s faces or about to throw water. These are the moments you should strive to capture. Using features like Live Photos on the iPhone, which makes a short video instead of a static image, is one method to capture motion. Samsung and Google both have similar features on their phones that can be useful. To capture still candid actions use burst mode, burst mode will help you capture the continue shots of the moment.
Get the exposure right
If you’re photographing people playing Holi during the day, make sure the colors in your images aren’t ruined by too much sunlight. If your images appear burnt or overexposed, lowering the exposure will assist, and you won’t need to switch to Pro mode to do so. In auto mode, most smartphone cameras will allow you to manually manage the exposure. You’ll notice a symbol to control exposure emerge on the screen as you tap the screen to get the focus right before taking the image. On the iPhone, it’s the sun symbol, and you can adjust exposure by sliding your finger up and down. A slider with plus and minus icons shows on Samsung phones, Pixel phones, and other Android smartphones, which you may use to regulate the exposure. When photographing in direct sunshine, it’s sometimes better to adjust exposure just a smidgeon to get more true colours.

It blends high fashion with real world grit, turning sidewalks into runways and everyday people into style subjects. This shift did not happen overnight. It grew from a mix of social media influence, shifting brand priorities, and a global appetite for authenticity. What used to be a niche style is now a major force shaping how fashion is captured, consumed, and imagined.
