Creating Art with a Camera - Marit van Ekelenburg

Macro Photography pulls out the wonder; observing your topic from a distance feels amazing, but watching your subject at extreme macro brings out the marvel.

So we spoke with Marit van Ekelenburg, a fantastic macro photographer. In this issue, she shares her macro tale as well as great advice for everyone. Marit has been exploring the realm of macro photography since 2017. She enjoys taking the audience on this beautiful journey, full of wonder, amazement, and inquiry. She's gone from taking mediocre holiday photos with her smartphone camera to specialising in extreme macro photography. She has been hooked to close-ups since the beginning. The features of a forget-me-not, the eyes of a hoverfly, the fangs of a vibrating spider... She is enthralled, mesmerised. She wishes to convey the wondrous world that she witnesses every day via her lens. She decided halfway through 2020 that she wanted to pursue more macro photography. Things quickly escalated for her! She currently writes on bugs for a local Dutch newspaper once a month. She has been on the jury for several photo contests, had an exhibition of her work at Palace Soestdijk, is working on an exhibition in Sao Paulo, has given numerous readings and workshops, appeared on podcasts, written for Natuurfotografie Magazine, sold pictures to Affinity Photo, and much more. It's reasonable to say that her 'passion' has gone out of hand and she adores it!
