Joins worldwide photo project
SEDGWICK—The Sedgwick Elementary School on June 9 made a giant outdoor photo exhibit of the 82 people who work inside the school building. They did it with large-scale photo posters of the students, teachers and staff as part of a worldwide photo project called Inside Out.
“It was spectacular,” said Sarah Doremus, the Sedgwick teacher from Deer Isle who instigated the project. “It really was fabulous to see the entire façade of the building covered with kids.”
The posters were to last as long as the weather held. Despite drought conditions, it rained the next day, ending the display.
“It’s meant to be temporal,” Doremus said. “If it was a week we would have loved it.”
Still, the project is now on exhibit for the world to see on the Inside Out website, along with photos from the slums of Brazil, the streets of New York and 1,889 other places in 138 countries.
