Speaking at the Climate Action Summit, PM Modi urged world leaders to expedite policies to protect the environment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address in New York was at the Climate Action Summit on the sidelines of the UNGA.
Even as Modi prepared to begin his address, there was a surprise guest in the audience, US President Donald Trump. It was unscheduled. He sat there for 10 minutes to listen to PM Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel before leaving for another event.
"We must accept that if we have to overcome a serious challenge like climate change, then what we are doing now is just not enough.
What is needed today is a comprehensive approach which covers everything from education to values, and from lifestyle to developmental philosophy. The time for talking is over. We need to act now.
What we need is a global people’s movement to bring about behavioural change".
