Amid the political slugfest, the Covid-19 positive cases are mounting in Punjab. Till May 4, 795 of about 4,100 pilgrims who returned from Hazur Sahib at Nanded in Maharashtra tested positive. The state is still awaiting test reports of 1,800 of the pilgrims. With this, Punjab has 1,232 positive cases.

Initially, Punjab allowed the pilgrims to go home after their thermal screening. But on April 26, a driver tested positive on his return to Nanded. Punjab was stirred to test these pilgrims and do mandatory testing on the other batches upon their return. Punjab has created facilities for their quarantine. But Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has accused the Maharashtra government of misleading them.
