THERE are no shortcuts where Thalaivi is concerned. The makers are in the process of giving actress Kangana Ranaut four looks to depict the journey of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and superstar Jayalalithaa – when she was 16, in her 20s, 30s and 40s.

Thalaivi depicts Jayalalithaa’s life from the beginning of her career to becoming the chief minister, with her relationships with south superstars M.G. Ramachandran and M. Karunanidhi interspersed.

Speaking of the preparations, Ranaut, in a press statement on Friday, said Jayalalithaa was a “very different personality” from her.
