SOUNDING the poll bugle, the Election Commission (EC) has announced the dates for the state elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. Elections in both the states will be held on October 21 and the results will be announced on October 24, said the EC.

Interestingly, these are the first elections after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and both the states are currently being ruled by the BJP, making them crucial for the Congress to show its mettle.
