Ganguly-led BCCI decides to seek SC approval to relax tenure reform

SOURAV Ganguly might continue in his post as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president till 2024 after his team on Sunday decided to abolish the Supreme Court-mandated administrative reforms on tenure cap of the board’s office-bearers.
The decisions to seek apex court’s approval for dilution of tenure cap, which is aimed at clearing the path for an extended stint for Ganguly, and appoint Shah for the ICC meet were taken at the Board’s 88th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai.
“All the proposed amendments have been approved and will be forwarded to the Supreme Court,” said a top official.
As per the current constitution, an office-bearer who has served two three-year terms, either at the BCCI or at the state association, goes into a compulsory three-year cooling-off period.
