India on Thursday called for a clear road map on climate finance to be finalised at COP28 to address the challenge of environmental degradation, shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to Dubai to join the world's most important climate meeting.

In his departure statement, Modi described the Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as an opportunity to review progress under the Paris Agreement and to chart a future path on climate action.
