The Prime Minister said he has ordered an “immediate” Cabinet Office inquiry, 18 months after he was alerted to Nusrat Ghani’s claim. She said she had been told her ministerial exit in 2020 was linked to her “Muslimness”.
Mr Johnson said he wants the Cabinet Office to “establish the facts” regarding Ms Ghani’s allegations of Islamophobia.
She has welcomed the inquiry, saying all she wants is for the matter to be taken seriously. Mr Johnson said: “We take these allegations extremely seriously, I took them very seriously when they were raised with me 18 months ago…very glad there’s an investigation taking place now.
