Pete's Wild Over Clarke Red

FC HALIFAX boss Pete Wild was left fuming at Nathan Clarke’s straight red card which marred an otherwise dour encounter at Kingfield.

Centre-back Clarke received his marching orders for a lunge on Woking’s Shaun Donnellan on 62 minutes, leaving Wild incandescent at referee Paul Howard.

“It’s never a red, he’s won the ball,” he said. “You have to know your players and Nathan Clarke doesn’t tackle like that. It is the single worst decision I’ve seen in a long time.

“I’ve got to be careful what I say, but it’s killed the game as a contest because of the referee’s silliness.

“The fourth official said it’s not even a foul, but they don’t help each other.”

Nevertheless, Wild was quick to salute his side’s rearguard that withstood the late pressure to head back north with a point.
