TOMMY WRIGHT feels like he already knows the Corby Town squad he’s returning to -– he’s a regular YouTube watcher!

IT'S A WRIGHT OLD REUNION!

The 35-year-old is a familiar face at the Steelmen having guided them to a remarkable Southern Premier title win in 2015.

But the former Nuneaton Borough, Darlington and Stratford Town boss believes he is rejoining a far more stable club than the one he left in 2016, following relegation from National League North and a tough start to life in Step 3.

Since then, the Northamptonshire club have been relegated to Step 4 and, after three seasons, were aiming to get out this term before the season was curtailed.

Wright is familiar with much of the squad – he brought Jordan Crawford and Curtis Hartley through in his first spell – and has been speaking to them all over the last few days.

And he says they must start out with the intention of winning the division next season.

“In terms of the football club it seems to now be a lot more financially stable than the one I left – that was big for me,” Wright told The NLP.

“They’ve had three cracks at Step 4 and not managed to get promoted yet. I still have fond memories of getting promoted from the Southern Premier League. That was the biggest motivation to come back – I do believe we can win it and that’s what we intend to do.

Momentum

“There’s a lot of people off the pitch, like the directors and staff that work around the ground and I have a lot of respect for, that I’ve kept in touch with since I’ve left.
