Boston's Big Party Now Back Underway

ROBSON & JEROME had just knocked the Spice Girls off the top of the music charts the last time Boston United reached the FA Cup second round proper.

Boston's Big Party Now Back Underway

That was thanks to a 3-0 win over Morecambe back in November 1996 and the same three-goal winning margin got them there again 23 years later.

Step 3 Carshalton Athletic gave the National League North Pilgrims a scare, though.

Cruising at the breakthrough Andi Thanoj’s curling free-kick and captain Luke Shiels’ close-range header, Boston saw their lead cut in half by Christie Pattisson.

Backed by a large travelling support, Craig Elliott’s side held off any further hopes of a Robins’ comeback and added two stoppage-time goals to seal the deal. “We’re in the hat, on Monday night,” sang the away fans – and boss Elliott couldn’t be happier to finally give them some FA Cup cheer.

“It is about the fans at this club,” Elliott said. “They’re amazing. They travel in large numbers, they support us through thick and thin. They’ve not had a good FA Cup run for a lot of years so be on a run now is amazing for them.
